Swim Team is right around the corner! Although it’s just now March, there is still plenty to do to get us ready. Here is some information to pass along:
1. Former Lexington Lakers swimmer, Lindsay Duzan will be the head coach this year!!!
2. We are looking into having some optional skill clinics taught by Lindsay this year.
3. You can still sign up for the ISU Swim Camp and/or Clinics https://illinoisstatesportscamps.com/swimming/index.php
4. We are working hard on scheduling our dual-team swim meets for Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July with nearby towns.
5. We will have new 2-year suits this year. Think bubbles!
6. We are in the process of designing new sweatshirts, t-shirts, and flannel pants through The Lifeguard Store!
7. Mark your calendars for the 4th Annual 2010 Lexington Invitational on Saturday, July 10, 2010. We will need as many swimmers and parents and volunteers at this meet as possible to continue making it a successful meet and a major source of income for our swim team which helps to keep our registration costs low!
8. The El Paso Invitational is June 19 and the Pontiac Pentathlon is June 26.
9. We are working on an optional co-op with Bloomington Parks and Rec giving those swimmers who want “a little extra” the chance to swim 2 additional meets with Bloomington and the ability to swim in the ‘famous’ TCSC (Twin Cities Swim Conference) “B” Meet and “Championship” Meet on July 17 and July 24 respectively. More info will come on this exciting opportunity!

The 4th annual 2010 Lexington Invitational will be held Saturday, July 10, 2010. In 2009, the following 12 teams from Central Illinois participated with approximately 270 swimmers:

Peoria Journal Star Swim Meet - July 18, 2009
Hi! This year, the Lexington Lakers Swim Team is offering a chance to swim in a ‘big meet’ in Peoria to end our season! This meet is on Saturday, July 18, 2009 and is optional for all swimmers. One of the interesting aspects of this meet is that you swim your age and not your age group. For example, all 9 year olds swim and score against 9 year olds, not 9 and 10 year olds, etc. However 13-14 and 15&Up are still combined. Lexington Lakers Swim Team receives 5th place at the 2009 El Paso Invitational!
The Lexington Lakers Swim Team received 5th place out of 13 teams at the 2009 El Paso Invitational on Saturday, June 20, 2009. Lexington brought 51 swimmers to the meet and had an outstanding day which started at 8:00 a.m. for the 10 & Under swimmers and lasted until 5:30 p.m. for the 11 & Older swimmers. This year's Invitational also had a 19 & Over category which Assistant Coach Lindsay Duzan swam with lots of cheering from the younger Lexington swimmers. Congratulations to all of the Lexington swimmers!

Three Lexington swimmers received high points at the El Paso Invitational. 1st place high points receives a trophy as well!

1. I need to know if your swimmer will attend the El Paso Invitational on Saturday, June 20, 2009. Right now, I have the following absences: Leslie, Bridget, Faith, Kayleigh, Erin, Whitney, Zack, Johnny, Sydney, Barin, Brennan, Kevin, Kaci, Hannah
2. I need to know if your swimmer wants a t-shirt. T-shirts are optional. The cost is $10. You can pay cash or check. Make checks payable to Lexington Park District. Available sizes are YM, YL, AS, AM, and AL. I need the t-shirt size and money by Saturday, June 13 (you can give it to me at the Bloomington Swim Meet).
3. The Park District will pay for your swimmer to swim in the El Paso Invitational. Each swimmer can swim 4 events which are $4 each. If you say you will swim and don’t show, you will need to reimburse the Park District for your entry fees.
4. New this year - Relays! Awards will be given to winners, but points will not be earned for team scoring. Each swimmer can swim in up to 2 relays.
5. Adults 19 and over can swim. If you are interested, please let me or Katie know.

El Paso Invitational Results
Lexington Lakers Swim Team receives 2nd place trophy!
The Lexington Lakers Swim Team won the 2nd place trophy on Saturday, June 21 at the 2008 El Paso Subway Invitational. Out of 9 teams, the Lakers received 2nd place behind the 1st place Greater Peoria Family YMCA Swim Team for the 3rd year in a row. Lexington brought 52 swimmers to the meet and had an outstanding day. This year's Invitational had a new 19 & Over category which Coach Clif Morlan swam in with lots of cheering from the younger Lexington swimmers. All swimmers finishing 1st - 3rd received medals and 4th - 10th received ribbons.
Three Lexington swimmers received a trophy for 1st place individual high points:
Lauren Boyd (Girls 8 & Under), Hannah Boyd (Girls 9-10), and Johnny Williamson (Boys 13-14). Connor Fiero received 3rd place for individual high points (Boys 13-14).
Two Lexington swimmers set 8 new records:
Girls 9-10: Hannah Boyd - 4 records in 50 Free (27.42), 25 Fly (14.06), 25 Back (15.56), and 100 IM (1:10.57)

The Lexington Lakers Swim Team won the 2nd place trophy on Saturday, June 21 at the 2008 El Paso Subway Invitational. Out of 9 teams, the Lakers received 2nd place behind the 1st place Greater Peoria Family YMCA Swim Team for the 3rd year in a row. Lexington brought 52 swimmers to the meet and had an outstanding day. This year's Invitational had a new 19 & Over category which Coach Clif Morlan swam in with lots of cheering from the younger Lexington swimmers. All swimmers finishing 1st - 3rd received medals and 4th - 10th received ribbons.
Three Lexington swimmers received a trophy for 1st place individual high points:
Lauren Boyd (Girls 8 & Under), Hannah Boyd (Girls 9-10), and Johnny Williamson (Boys 13-14). Connor Fiero received 3rd place for individual high points (Boys 13-14).
Two Lexington swimmers set 8 new records:
Girls 9-10: Hannah Boyd - 4 records in 50 Free (27.42), 25 Fly (14.06), 25 Back (15.56), and 100 IM (1:10.57)
Boys 13-14: Johnny Williamson - 4 records in 100 Free (50.4), 50 Free (23.26), 50 Fly (2478), and 100 IM (1:00.12)

El Paso Invitational 6/21
Hi everyone! An update about the El Paso Invitational...
Clif waited around after the meet on Saturday to collect everyone's ribbons and trophies. He learned that we got 4th place (after year's of 2nd's behind Greater Peoria Family YMCA). He said the margin between 2nd, 3rd, and 4th was around 7 points...like 567 El Paso, 564 Pontiac, 560 Lexington. But, then this morning I found this out...
Lexington got 2nd place at the El Paso Invite!!!
Apparently, El Paso accidentally scored two of the adult events which made the scores off. So, El Paso will bring the third place trophy to Pontiac at the Pentathlon and then Pontiac will give us the second place trophy at the Pentathlon. El Paso actually ended up in fourth.

Swim Team Update 6/10
Hi! I have lots of information below that was going to be covered tonight at the practice meet...but since it is cancelled, I will send an email with the information! Please read to the bottom! :)
#1 - File Folders: Please have your swimmer check their file folder in the swim team box at the pool for your 2008 swim team packet. This packet contains lots of useful information (especially for first-time swimmers!) This is also where you will receive your ribbons and other sources of communication!
#2 - Absences for Thursday, June 12 at Gridley: Please let me know if this is not right: Ashleigh, Kelly, Ted, Hannah?, Lauren?, Nick, Rachel, Kolten, Katie P, Brennan, Barin, Kale, Tommy, Becca,

#6 - For Sale: Yard Signs and Car Decals. Mark Pritchard has personalized yard signs for the swimmers. The signs say Lexington Lakers with a picture of a swimmer, and your swimmer(s) names. The cost is $20 and these need to be ordered. There are also Lexington Lakers Swim Team Car Decals - white is $3 and purple is $5. These are in stock. Please contact Tammy if you want to purchase. I will have these at practices and meets.
#7 - Concession Sign-Ups: There will be a concession sign-up sheet coming soon - we need parents to donate food, drinks, snacks, treats, etc. for each home meet! Look for this to come soon!

El Paso Invitational 6/21
Hello! I just received information for the El Paso Invitational held on Saturday, 6/21. Sorry for the short notice, but the information was mailed to me on 6/4 and the deadline for entries is 6/13. So, I will need to know the following from each swimmer by Wednesday, 6/11 at 12:00!
1. Will your swimmer attend the meet?
You need to reply if you will NOT attend the meet. The Lexington Park District pays for each swimmer to swim and the cost is $16 for 4 events. If you do not let me know that you are not swimming or if you say you are swimming and do not show up, you will have to pay the $16 to the Park District.
2. Do you want to purchase a t-shirt for $10?
El Paso is offering meet t-shirts for a cost of $10 per swimmer. The Park District does not pay for this. You need to get a check made payable to El Paso Recreation for $10 by Wednesday, 6/11 at 12:00!
3. What time will you volunteer to time a lane? We need a total of 12 timers - 2 each hour:
9:00-10:00, 10:00-11:00, 11:00-end, beginning-2:00, 2:00-3:00, 3:00-4:00
